Returning from Spain has its own pet travel requirements. We guide and advise you on the documents and preparations relevant to your journey before you set off.
Your pet’s microchip, rabies vaccination and travel documents need to meet the entry requirements. Depending on the circumstances, an accepted valid pet passport, a qualifying Animal Health Certificate used for your outward trip, or a Great Britain pet health certificate may be appropriate. We will review and check your existing documentation and clarify what documentation is required for border control compliance in Calais.
Travelling with a dog: plan the vet visit
For dogs travelling from Spain to Great Britain, a vet must administer the required tapeworm treatment no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before entry into Great Britain, and record it in the appropriate travel document.
The timing relates to arrival in Britain, rather than collection in Spain. We help you consider the appointment alongside your proposed route and crossing. Your vet confirms the appropriate treatment and completes the veterinary record.

Yes. Our private service is for owners travelling with their pets. Tell us who is travelling and any particular needs when you enquire.
Will we stay together during the Channel crossing?
Yes. On LeShuttle from Calais to Folkestone, your pet stays with you in the vehicle.
Do I need a new Animal Health Certificate for the return journey?
Not necessarily. The correct document depends on your pet’s circumstances and the validity of documents already held. Share your paperwork before departure so the appropriate document can be checked against current Great Britain entry requirements.
When should I book my dog’s tapeworm treatment?
Plan it around entry into Great Britain: the vet-administered treatment must fall within the 24-to-120-hour window before arrival. Discuss your proposed itinerary with us and confirm treatment and documentation with your vet.
